USA - The West April 2012 Yellowstone National Park Part 2

Day 6 - continued

Mammoth Hot Spring, Yellowstone National Park.

This is definitely the largest hot spring that I’ve visited so far, which features a few major terraces that has been constantly changing over the years according to the thermal activity in that area. You can also find a few dormant hot spring cones such as the Liberty Cap in that area which is quite unique.

All visitors are reminded not to step on the ground except on the dedicated walking path built around the area. Even though there seems to be no activity on the ground, you’ll never know what’s inside and beneath the surface of an active hot spring.
